History is coming alive for the FLOW community.

The Ramapo Indian Hills School District announces an exciting partnership with the Wyckoff Public Library to host “The Voices of Freedom Project,” presented by the Americans in Wartime Experience.

Spearheaded by Joe DelBuono, District Social Studies Supervisor, the initiative offers historians the unique opportunity to conduct one-on-one interviews with veterans and civilians who have firsthand experience with war, including events such as the attacks on 9/11 and the subsequent War on Terror.

Interviews will be held in the Monroe room at the Wyckoff Public Library, 200 Woodland Ave., on May 28, 29, and 30, providing local residents with a unique opportunity to contribute to this vital historical record. Click here to make an appointment.

"We're very pleased to partner with the Wyckoff Public Library to bring The Voices of Freedom Project to our FLOW community. This initiative is about honoring our veterans and civilians by preserving their wartime experiences,” DelBuono said. “We invite our community to join us in sharing stories that enrich our collective history."

Interviews will be posted online and ultimately become part of a featured educational and historical museum located in Prince William County, VA. once construction is complete. This ensures that these stories will be preserved for future generations, serving as a valuable resource for understanding the impact of war on society in the early 2000s.

"This initiative not only honors the sacrifices of our veterans and civilians but also serves as a reminder of the resilience and courage exhibited during times of conflict in our lifetimes,” said Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. James Baker.

Through the power of storytelling, The Voices of Freedom Project seeks to foster empathy, understanding, and appreciation for the courage and resilience of those who have served and sacrificed.
